Tai Chi & Qigong
Class / Group Fee: Free
Tutor/Facilitator: Peter Duckworth
Taoist text says:
“Nothing in the world is as soft and yielding as water. Yet for dissolving the hard and inflexible, nothing can surpass it. The soft overcomes the hard; the gentle overcomes the rigid.
Tai Chi and Qigong are two forms of mind-body exercise and have similarities that involve good posture and gentle movements. Both integrate breath and movement and use imagery and visualisation to heighten awareness. Both Tai Chi and Qigong centre around the idea of cultivating qi, the life force or vital energy. Qigong is sometimes practiced as a stationary meditation and people who practice tai chi often incorporate qigong into their practice. Both Tai Chi and Qigong provide similar benefits.
